Bath-based folk-pop artist Susie Mills returns with her new single ‘Green Light’, a quietly reflective track about recognising when it’s time to move on. The song is the first to be shared from her upcoming EP ‘Is It Something I Said’, due for release in May.
Written during a period when life felt stuck in place, ‘Green Light’ captures the moment when clarity begins to cut through routine and uncertainty. The song explores the emotional shift that happens when you realise you’ve outgrown a situation and begin to imagine something new.
Speaking about the track, Susie says: “I wrote this song at a time when life felt really stagnant and monotonous, which seemed to mirror the constant dreary weather. I was also feeling really suffocated in my living situation, so writing “Green Light” became a way for me to acknowledge and embrace the fact that it was time for me to move out and move on to new things.”

Musically, ‘Green Light’ leans into Susie’s understated folk-pop sound. Built around warm acoustic guitar and gentle percussion, the arrangement leaves space for her voice to sit front and centre. The production is warm and light, feeling like spring sunshine, a time of new beginnings and new life, which gives the track a sense of calm clarity that mirrors the song’s theme of change and renewal.
The single follows a run of releases last year that introduced Susie’s thoughtful songwriting and intimate sound to a growing audience. ‘Green Light’ now marks the beginning of the next chapter with her forthcoming four-track EP ‘Is It Something I Said’, which is about navigating mid-20s in the aftermath of a pandemic.
As Susie moves into a new chapter, ‘Green Light’ feels like a quiet turning point, both for the song itself and for the music still to come.
